I've had the incredible opportunity to be part of the GoBabyGo event at Shriners Hospital for Children - Chicago. It's not just a typical hardware hacking event—it's a day that brings smiles, freedom, and newfound mobility to young kids with limited movement abilities.
At GoBabyGo, we get to tinker with powered toy cars and modify them to suit the needs of these amazing kids dealing with conditions like CP and Spina Bifida. It might sound like a fun tech project (and it totally is!), but the real magic happens when we see these little ones get the hang of their new rides.
For the first time, they're exploring their surroundings on their own, interacting with their friends in ways they couldn't before. This newfound independence isn't just a win for their social lives—it's also key to their brain development.
Being a part of this event, even just once or twice, has been an absolute joy. It's a vivid reminder of why I'm so passionate about robotics and assistive tech. Can't wait to be back and see more happy faces zooming around in their customized rides!
